About this Video
White House History Live delves into the stories that make up the history of the Executive Mansion.
For more than a century, thousands of Americans have gathered in Lafayette Park across from the White House to exercise their First Amendment rights and bring awareness to their respective causes. Senior Vice President and Director of the David M. Rubenstein Center Dr. Colleen Shogan and Vice President of the David M. Rubenstein Center Dr. Matthew Costello will discuss how individuals, groups, and organizations historically used this space to advocate equality, protest policy, and demand action from the neighborhood's most powerful occupant.
