Following in the footsteps of the original White House designer and builder, James Hoban, we talk to a new generation of artists who have left their mark on the White House. In this episode we hear new insights from White House Historical Association Board Member and former White House interior designer Tham Kannalikham as well as Steven Spandle, architect of the White House tennis pavilion. We also gathered the White House Historical Association’s Next-Gen Leaders for a hands-on event in Brooklyn, NY, to learn how the plaster ornaments that decorate the new tennis pavilion were made. Association President Stewart McLaurin speaks with the host of the evening, Emily Bedard, who is one of the Association’s Next-Gen Leaders and is the Creative Director for Foster Reeve & Associates, the architectural and ornamental plaster design firm which worked with Kannahlikham and Spandle to bring the pavilion to life.
