Mel Sembler is Chairman Emeritus of The Sembler Company, a family-run, private shopping center development company. He is the former U.S. Ambassador to Italy and also former Ambassador to Australia and Nauru. Mel currently serves on the boards of the International Council of Shopping Centers, George and Barbara Bush Presidential Library Foundation, Republican Jewish Coalition, American Enterprise Institute, and Moffitt Cancer Center. He is a member of the Florida Council of 100.
