Left to right: Mrs. Henrietta Nesbitt, White House housekeeper; Mrs. Roosevelt, Assistant Director of the Office of Civilian Defense: Harriet Elliott, Associate Administrator in charge of the Consumer Division, Office of Price Administration (OPA). Mrs. Roosevelt and Mrs. Nesbitt, took the "Consumer Pledge for Total Defense" drafted by Miss Harriet Elliott. The pledge reads: "As a consumer, in the total defense of democracy, my country ready, efficient, and strong; I will buy carefully. I will take good care of the things I have. I will waste nothing"
