Mrs. Roosevelt and Mrs. Nesbitt, took the "Consumer Pledge for Total Defense" drafted by Miss Harriet Elliott. The pledge reads: "As a consumer, in the total defense of democracy, my country ready, efficient, and strong; I will buy carefully. I will take good care of the things I have. I will waste nothing"
