Helping Students See What They Can Be
The White House Historical Association is proud to partner with DreamWakers on a variety of programs and initiatives. DreamWakers partners with 4th to 12th-grade classrooms at rural and systemically under-resourced schools and offers educational programming nationwide to provide virtual connections with role models from diverse backgrounds, identities, and perspectives beyond their local communities. DreamWakers brings classroom lessons to life, inspiring the next generation of leaders to envision and prepare for their own future – “helping students see what they can be.”
In 2017, the Association and DreamWakers produced a mini-series of video lectures for students in high-need classrooms across the country. The series, entitled “White House Wednesdays,” allowed the Association’s expert historians, as well as individuals who have lived and worked in the White House, to virtually teach and tell the stories of White House history to 4th to 12th grade students.
DreamWakers also offers support to teachers attending the Association’s White House History Teacher Institute, presenting resources and tools to teachers and offering distance learning opportunities to their classrooms across the nation. As of 2022, DreamWakers has connected with the classrooms of more than 60 of our Teacher Institute alumni.
