Using eyewitness accounts as well as carefully preserved records, artifacts, garments, and images, the book takes readers behind the scenes of the once-in-a-lifetime event. It explores the reasons why the first White House fashion show was destined to be the last, and the perennial dangers of mixing fashion and politics.
